Coaches` perceptions of common planning concepts within training theory: An international survey
Many coaches, even self-described periodisation users, did not employ key periodisation concepts such as training specific fitness factors in a sequential order.
Rather than periodisation, many coaches` practices seemed to align with what could be considered planning best practice, based on the levels of uncertainty in the training process.
Given the lack of periodisation alternatives in the literature, and the results of this study, future research should explore how non-periodisation coaches formulate, manage and deliver training plans.
