Evaluation of training loads in sport using the Rough Set Theory

(Untersuchung der Trainingsbelastungen im Sport mittels Grobmengentheorie)

Introduction: Athletic load plays a crucial role in the course of sports training. The rational distribution of athletic load does not occur by chance but falls into a sphere which is highly correlated with particular expertise. The Rough Set theory, a mathematical means of designating the value of incompletion and imprecision, enables scrutinization of various classes of information which may be incomplete, inaccurate, and incompliant. Furthermore, it aids in obtaining the assortment and interpretation of data as it reveals the hidden clues and concealed principles. Using the Rough Set theory, this paper presents a statistical evaluation of sports coaches` appraisals of sports athletic load composition and establishes systematic criteria. The criteria, combined with a build-up of methodical experience may significantly promote scientific athletic training. Methods Methodologies used included documentation, administration of a survey and establishment of a mathematical model. Results Taken from the raw data of scientific athletic appraisal , the variants contributing to the load are logically marked as : a—athletics , b—psychiatry, c—physiology and biochemistry, d— function. The ( 1,2....11) i a i denotes the element for athletic variant, while ( 1,2....7) i b i represents the element for psychiatric variant ( 1,2....17) i c i signifies the element for physiological and biochemical variant, and ( 1,2....7) i d i specifies the functional variant. The systematic criteria set for scientific athletic load is basically exemplified as CORE R ={a4 , a7 ,b5 ,b1,c1,c9 , d3 , d1}. The support provided by experts are respectively exhibited as 1 R : 66, 2 R : 69, 3 R , 71, 4 R :73, 5 R : 82. The subsequent test of validity showed that it may have a significant effect on improving athletic load composition. Conclusions Application of the Rough Set theory reduced the complexity of coaches` personal experience and enable establishment of a systematic criterion for sports appraisals of value to the training process. It is especially meaningful for the following subscripts to promote athletic performance: action stability, countenance, attention, training intensity, maximal heart rate, blood lactic acid content, muscle ache, sleeping and sweat scale.
