The article is devoted to the history-logical and historiographical analysis of the theoretical methodological problems of the periodization, the evolution of scientific knowledge, methodology, contradictions and the category "law" in the context of the history of the science about physical culture and sports. The author considers, that the continuity of negative components of the science of the Soviet period did not promote to the achievement of the higher level of researches (an extensive method, lack of finances, etc.). According to the author's opinion, the laws in this field of science have probabilistic character, as a modern prediction in a science on the basis of revealing the laws is not still equivalent to the scientific management.
