The International Academy of Sports Science and Technology
(Internationale Akademie für Sportwissenschaft und Technologie)
The International Academy of Sports Science and Technology is a center of research and education based in Lausanne, Olympic Capital, Switzerland.
The AISTS was co-founded in 2000 by the following institutions:
International Olympic Committee (IOC)
University of Geneva
University of Lausanne
Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP)
as well as other partners
The AISTS is unique by its pool of multi-field expertise; it develops and applies all sorts of knowledge to the study of sports in connection with biology, medicine, technology, law, economics, logistics, management, sociology, to name just a few. The AISTS activities are built on the following three academic pillars: continuing education, postgraduate education and research.
The AISTS offers educational programs, including a one-year postgraduate programme, and conducts several research projects related to sports.
As of September 1, 2006, the AISTS will have a new branch in the House of International Sport (MSI) in Lausanne. The AISTS main office will remain at the EPFL Scientific Park.
The MSI houses some departments of the International Olympic Committee, as well as many International Sports Federations and other sports related organizations.
