(Die Untersuchung von Problemen der inneren Medizin bei Auswahlkadern des Japanischen Olympischen Komitees)
[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate results of medical check for athletes selected by Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and to use well for health care in future athletes selected by JOC.
[Subjects and Methods] Subjects were 555 men`s and 371 women`s athletes who were selected by JOC and took medical checks. The medical check included inquiries, physical examinations and another various medical examinations (chest X-ray, rest ECG, Blood Cell Counts, urinalysis, chemical laboratory tests). Doctors of medical support team made lists of problems of each athlete. They investigated these problems between all athletes, athletes of endurance sports and ball game sports (Handball, Basketball, Football and Rugby football).
[Results and Discussion] Three hundred eighty four of 555 men`s athletes (69.2%) and 299 of 371 women`s athletes (80.6%) possessed any problem each. In men`s athletes chief problems were poor condition (general fatigue and overtraining syndrome)(20.9%), low plasma protein (5.8%), anemia (4.8%), low serum iron (7.2%), and in women`s athletes chief problems were poor condition (28.3%), low plasma protein (8.6%), anemia (5.4%), low serum iron (12.4%) and menstrual cramps (19.7%). The frequency of poor condition, low plasma protein, anemia and low serum iron in athletes of ball game sports (contacting type) was same as these frequency in athletes of endurance sports, and more than these frequency in all athletes. We concluded that it was important for us pay attention to check of condition and nutrition in athletes of ball game sports (contacting type).
