"Team Japan Support Center" at the London 2012 Olympic Games - A support base outside the athletes village

("Supportzentrum für das Team Japan" bei den Olympischen Spielen 2012 in London - Eine Einrichtung ausserhalb des Athletendorfs zur Unterstützung des Teams)

The presentation will introduce the concept of "Team Japan Support Center" outside of the Athletes Village at Major Multi Sport Events exclusive for members of the competing Japanese Team. The concept of "Team Japan Support Center" was developed through close communication with National Sports Federations to ensure that it will be a very useful "tool" to help athletes and coaches maximize their performance at the competition. Competing at Olympic Games is totally different from competing at sport specific World Championships / World Cups etc. The Olympic Games are one of the biggest international multi sports events in the world, with all the athletes living in one big Olympic Village. It poses unique restrictions that athletes, coaches and staff need to solve or adapt to (e.g. restricted access to Olympic Village / Venues through a limited number of accreditation cards etc.), to minimize the influence these limitation have on the final preparation (training, coaching, conditioning etc.) of the athletes for the competition. "Team Japan Support Center" tries to minimize and / or control the impact of these restrictions by ensuring that athletes and coaches have access to the same kind of support as "always" regardless of any official accreditation status.
