Vortrag auf dem USOC International Altitude Training Symposium am 5.-7. Oktober 2011 in Colorado Springs über die Ursprünge und die Bedeutung des Höhentrainings.
"95% of all medalists at the World Championships and Olympic Games since 1968 in events longer than 800m have either lived or trained at altitude." Therefore, altitude training is an essential part of the preparation for any track and field athlete aspiring to become an Olympic or World champion."
Concluding Thoughts:
Altitude training is training at altitude!
Effective use of altitude to enhance sea-level performance requires both the exposure to hypoxic conditions to stimulate the EPO response and high intensity/velocity/impulse training under "normoxic"conditions.
Altitude training is a supplemental component to a long-term, comprehensive, periodized training program and should be integrated only after all the other components of such a program are well established.
There are a range of alternative approached to achieving the two essential components of AT
Your task over the next 2 days is to listen critically and ask incisive questions to assist you determining the AT paradigm that may be optimal for your situation.
