Spirulina food supplement in athletes` training practice

(Spirulina-Supplementierung im Training von Sportlern)

Over the recent years, lots of various food supplements have appeared on the market. They find an ever-increasing application in sports practice when the aim is to harmonize the athletes` ration and the physiological requirements of their bodies. More attention is being given to food supplements that influence not the separate systems of the body but those capable of performing the bioregulation of the whole organism. The food supplement Spirulina, produced from the alga Spirulina platensis, exhibits properties of exactly this kind. The World Health Organization and modern dietology regard Spirulina as an unmatched food supplement. The aim of our work was to establish the effect of the multicomponent natural food supplement Spirulina on the indices of immunity, general blood picture, physical development, efficiency and functional capacity in athletes.
