Analysis of kinematic factors according to success or failure of forward roll and receive a ball with legs in rhythmic gymnastics
(Analyse der kinematischen Faktoren für den Erfolg oder Misserfolg der Vorwärtsrolle und der Ballannahme mit den Beinen in der Rhythmischen Sportgymnastik )
Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the kinematic variables according to the success and failure of the forward rolling ball receiving movement that determines the victory or defeat of the rhythmic gymnastics ball game and provide these results to the rhythmic gymnastics game site to help improve rhythmic gymnastics performance. Method: Thirteen national leveled rhythmic gymnasts were recruited in this study (age: 16±2.76 year, height: 159.42±6.39 cm, mass: 42.17±7.59 kg, Career: 7.92±2.81 year). A 3-dimensional motion analysis with 8 Simi markerless cameras with sampling rate 100 Hz was performed. After experiment set-up, each participant performed the 'Forward roll and receive a ball with legs' motion with their own ball. Three successful and three failed trials were collected from each participant and average of each was used for analysis. Independent t-test was used for statistical verification between the trials. The significant level was set at a=.05. Results: In this study successful trial was revealed a significantly longer time than failed one in P5 and entire movement (p<.05). In P4, CoM of successful trial was significantly located backward and downward compared to the failed one. For A-P and vertical CoM velocity, there was a statistically significant difference between the successful and failed trials at P4 and P5 (p<.05). Lastly, the ball and CoM displacement during movement showed a significant difference in A-P direction between successful and failed trials at E4 and E5, and a difference in vertical displacement at E6 (p<.05). Conclusion: In order to perform a successful Forward Roll and Receive a Ball with Legs, it is necessary to maintain a short distance between the ball and CoM in both A-P and vertical direction from the hand touch to the finishing point. In addition, it is believed that a successful the movement will be possible if the player moves his/her CoM forward of the ball when catching the ball.
