Pronator teres syndrome and adaptation in training-conservative therapy in two high competitive athletes

(Pronatorsyndrom und Anpassung im Training durch konservative Therapie bei zwei Hochleistungsathleten)

This case report describes two experienced high competitive male gymnastic athletes with malaise due to weakness of upper body strength after the training at parallel bars. They complained of aching discomfort in the forearm, weakness in the hand, and numbness in the thumb and index finger for several days. These influenced their training at horizontal bar, parallelbars and pommel horse badly. The purpose of this case report is to share examples that emphasize on rehabilitation and adaptation in order to contribute more evidences to competitive sport and sports medicine. Conservative therapy was performed in both cases and the adaptation abilities of athletes in competitive training were observed. Both athletes recovered and regained their sport ability. One of them won 2 gold medals in the 2006 World Championship and 2 gold medals in the Beijing Olympics.
