Zakres stronnego zróznicowania ruchów w wybranych cwiczeniach gimnastyki artystycznej u uczestniczek igrzysk olimpijskich w atlancie
(Umfang der lateralen Differenzierung der Bewegungen bei ausgewählten Übungen der Rhythmischen Sportgymnastik, die von Teilnehmern an den Olympischen Spielen in Atlanta ausgeführt wurden)
Among many sport disciplines, rhythmic gymnastics deserves special recognition, and not only because of the fact that it is performed uniquely by women. Its distinguishing element is the necessity to perform selected exercises with accessories symmetrically, that is, to perform them with the right and left hand. So far not many researches have been devoted to that extremely important and live issue (Starosta 1970,1975,1998). Thus, the main aim of this work was to: 1. Define the range of the lateral differentiation of lower extremities in women gymnasts. 2. Seek relationships between the execution of selected exercises with accessories using both left and right hand.
Tests were conducted with 14 participants of the Olympic Games in Atlanta - representatives of 10 countries. The principal method of the tests consisted of an indirect observation, that is, the registration of the performance of the selected exercises with accessories from a video recording. As a result of the researches conducted it has been established that 68,4% of the gymnasts perform exercises with a high coefficient of complexity (difficulty) on their left leg or when taking off from it during the jumps. Out of 22-34 most complex exercises with apparatus (ball and ribbon) 67,9 to 89,9% of them were performed with a right hand, and the rest of them with the left one. These kinds of disproportion's have provoked changes in the rules of the competitions. It is now required to distribute the loads equally on both the left and the right upper extremities.
