In the U.S. alone, 1.5 million high school and college athletes are injured every year. The cause of overtraining and injuries is multifactorial, but recent research has identified poor workload management as a major contributor. This article will present evidence-based workload management strategies to reach and maintain top performance, while reducing the risk of illness and injury.
