HRV-Biofeedback: Bewährte Methodik in der Medizin - Neue Ansätze in Sport und Stressmanagement
Biofeedback as a long since estabfished learning method is focusing on perceiving and influencing bodily processes that are usually taking place unconsciously. Biofeedback is assigned to learning theoretic and behavioral therapeutic approaches and can be done using different physiological parameters.
Biofeedback training through heart rate variability (HRV) as an easify accessibte physiotogical parameter is becoming more and more important and common, i.e. in dealing with chronic diseases and psychic disturbances. Both large studies and small pilot projects show increasingly positive results and experiences in the therapy of diverse illnesses and health problems.
Biofeedback, mainly HRV-biofeedback, is also more and more used in teaching stress management for preventive reasons, i. e. in corporate health programs. First promising studies have been conducted.
HRV-biofeedback training may also be effective and beneficial in sports. Already some high class athletes, coaches and sports psychologists use this method aiming at new approaches to manage stress, support mental processes, reduce anxiety and increase recovery and regeneration. Unfortunately no serious research has been done yet.
The method of HRV-biofeedback training is becoming even more popular and usable since simple and affordable tools exist for patient. This way patients and athletes can practice at home and on a regular base. This may lead to the feeling and the consciousness of being responsible for one's own health and performance improvement.
