The book of abstracts and proceedings of the 4th International Scientific Conference of Slovenian Gymnastics Federation unites knowledge of gymnastics and sport science from Bosna and Hercegovina, Croatia, Great Britain, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. In the last decades, with new software, measurement systems, understanding of the human body and its adaptations sports science has remarkably developed. Simultaneously with new knowledge, the athletes` performances have reached the limits of once impossible skills, and on the other hand, new questions have arisen. As gymnastics is one of the basic sport disciplines and reveals the abilities of the human body - strength, power, balance, coordination - and its control at the highest levels possible, we can be over and over again charmed by gymnasts` skills and be left wondering about limits of human body and athlete`s performance. Science and its practical applications go hand in hand and should support and contribute to each other. Such event is a great opportunity for scientists on one side and trainers on the other to refresh their knowledge and discuss their opinions and findings on the broad spectrum of subjects from gymnastics and other fields of sport science: sports medicine, sports biomechanics, nutrition, sports psychology, theory of training, sports technology, sports management and sports marketing. In the existent publication, the reader can find a lot of interesting discussions along with practical applications and suggestions for further studies. We are very happy that we can host some recognisable lecturers from the field of gymnastics and also students, which seems to be a good mixture of knowledge and experiences on one and optimism for future events on the other side.
