Global, fine and hidden sports data: Applications of 3-D vision analysis and a specialised data glove for an athlete biomechanical analysis system
This paper discusses two methods (one existing and one new) for the biomechanical analysis of an athlete and the potential for the integration of the systems to provide a better method of analysis. The MacReflex optoelectronic automatic tracking system (Qualisys Inc. Sweden) which carries out 3-D analysis of human movement will be described along with a recently developed specialised dataglove (TLA R&D, England) which provides positional information regarding the hand. In addition, results obtained from a pilot study of one finger component of the dataglove are presented.
