The effect of horizontally- or vertically directed plyometric bounding exercises on sprinting and jumping performance

(Die Wirkung von horizontal oder vertikal ausgerichteten plyometrischen Sprungübungen auf die Sprint- und Sprungleistung)

Training interventions consisting of either horizontally- or vertically directed plyometric exercises may be implemented for the purpose of improving sprinting and vertical jumping performance. Plyometric training has been shown to improve sprinting, vertical jumping, and sport performance. However, many studies used either plyometric exercises with a predominantly vertical impulse, or a combination of vertically- and horizontally directed movements. This research investigated whether plyometric exercises that differed only by major movement, or force, direction influenced changes in sprinting and vertical jumping performance in running-based athletes.
