Strength training program - Kronos

(Das Kronos-Krafttrainingsprogramm)

Focus, phases (anatomical adaptation (AA) and hypertrophy), involved muscle groups and program design of the Kronos strength training program are presented. The overall focus of this strength training program is to increase the force produced in each group of muscle in as little time as possible - this is also known as power. By increasing the amount of power in each muscle group and thereby each muscular contraction you will be able to exert much more force more efficiently than previously. This, coupled with the advantage of muscle protection, can and will make you a better performing athlete. In order to stimulate the muscle to become more powerful it must be subjected to a generalize adaptation plan just like the cardio vascular training being done in the swim, bike and run. This plan relies on varied intensity (weight) and volume (number of reps) in order to stimulate muscle growth and neuromuscular stimulation. Like the training we do for each of the triathlon disciplines, the strength training program will start off with a relatively easy approach to strength training and then, as the season progresses, the workouts will become much more intense with varying amounts of volume.
