(Anämie bei japanischen Sportlern: Am Beispiel des nationalen Sportfestivals 1998)
The purpose of this research was to investigate and analyse the state of Anemia possessed in Japanese Athletes.
Japanese Athletes (Male: n=1938, Female: n=1053) who tried to participate in National Sports Festival (Japanese Spartakiade) were examined Anemia by Medical Check. Athletes who were diagnosed as Anemia were divided into Mild Anemia group (Hemoglobin value in Male: 13.0g/dl~14.0g/dl, in Female: 11.0g/dl~12.0g/dl) and Severe Anemia group (Hemoglobin value in Male: less than 13.0g/dl, in Female: less than 11.0g/dl), and they were classified 4 categories: Jr. High School; High School; Collegiate; Adult; They were analysed the frequency of Anemia in each categories. Male Athletes: in Jr. High School category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was16.1%, and Severe Anemia 5.4%, the total was over 20%. In High School category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was 12.9% and Severe Anemia 2.8%, about the total 16%. The frequency of Mild Anemia was 13.3% and Severe Anemia 3.5%, and total 16.8% in Collegiate Athletes retained Anemia. In Adult category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was 8.1%, Severe Anemia 0.9%, total 9.0%. Female Athletes: Jr. High School category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was 9.6% and Severe Anemia 1.9%, the total was over 10%. In High School category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was 16.9% and Severe Anemia 4.0%, the total over 20%. The frequency of Mild Anemia was 8.3%, and Severe Anemia 5.6%, and the total 13.9% of Collegiate Athletes retained Anemia. In Adult category, the frequency of Mild Anemia was15.4%, and Severe Anemia 3.4%, the total 18.8% of Athletes retained Anemia.
The frequency of Anemia possessed in Male Athletes decreased in proportion to get older. The frequency of Anemia in the other categories except Jr.High and Collegiate in Female Athletes was about 20%. For preventing anemia in Athletes, it is necessary for us to educate the nutrition to young Athletes, and for their parents to promote a better understanding and concerning Anemia.
