The validity and reliability of the My Jump 2 application for trained junior and adult athletes
(Reliabilität und Validität der Anwendung My Jump 2 für trainierte Nachwuchs- und Erwachsenensportler)
Objectives
To examine the reliability, validity, and usefulness of the My Jump 2 application compared to an infrared platform photoelectric cell system in young and adult professional athletes.
Equipment and methods
Twenty-one junior athletes (16.0 ± 1.8 years old) and nineteen professional adults (20.7 ± 7.7 years old) performed six countermovement jumps (CMJ) and six squat jumps (SJ) measured simultaneously by the optical jump device (infrared platform) and the My Jump 2 application.
Results
The results revealed very high correlations between the My Jump 2 application and the infrared platform photoelectric cell system for both SJ (r = 0.99, P < 0.001) and CMJ (r = 0.99, P < 0.001). Furthermore, high reproducibility (ICC > 0.86) and low coefficients of variation (CV < 5%) were observed for all measurements.
Conclusion
My Jump 2 application presents excellent validity, reliability, and applicability for SJ and CMJ jump assessments in both young male athletes and professional adults.
