In biomechanics of human movement, the consistency of the kinematic data is crucial to ensure an adequate interpretation of the calculated variables. The marker set is a parameter that can influence the reconstructed kinematics. Hence, the aim of this study was to assess the influence of three marker sets on the reconstructed kinematics using three criteria: reconstruction quality, modification of the joint kinematics and computational time. Using the marker set A as a reference, the results indicated an increasing modification of the joint kinematics and a decreasing computational time with the marker reduction. The output data of any biomechanical procedures using the kinematic data as an input parameter have to be considered cautiously when the marker number is highly decreased.
