The site offers information that has a scientific rationale and is of interest and benefit to practitioners in sport - coaches, physical educators, sports medicine practitioners and paramedical support staff, and, of course sport participants. We have scope for both scientific contributions based on research as well as ideas expressed by coaches and sports participants. To avoid the possibility of scientifically unsubstantiated ideas being accepted as fact, articles based on opinions and ideas must be indicated as such. However, such ideas are welcomed as part of the communication process between scientists and coaches and may stimulate the research required to address the issues raised. The ISBS Coaching Information Service is tailored to the needs of coaches and athletes. Thus, it is imperative that the materials presented are concise and written in a form and language that it is understandable and appealing to the target groups. This requires modification of the normal style of scientific writing and inclusion of visual and audio-visual materials wherever appropriate.
