Cross-country skiing physical training pattern for the 10 km classic event
INTRODUCTION: Considering the achievements of the Romanian sportsmen during the great competitions, the Olympic Games and the World Championships, where they have achieved average results, although the time difference compared to the winners has decreased considerably, we have suggested, by means of this paper, an improvement of the training plans for the performance cross-country skiers who are included in the Romanian Olympic team.
METHOD: the experiment was achieved during two seasons: the 2005-2006 season and the 2006-2Q07season, the subjects of the research being 3 members of the Romanian cross-country skiing team and had as a goal the increase of the amount of work at low intensity during the training period, and the increase of the intensity during the pre-competition period (aiming at drilling the events at increased intensity), where the amount decreases much. The experiment also included the initial, intermediary and final testing periods, as well as the gym training and snow training periods, but we studied the improvement or the non-improvement which can be achieved or not during the national competitions, and especially during the international competitions organized on snow.
RESULTS: In Order to be objective during our research we have used the tests organized by the Romanian Biathlon Federation (F.R.S.B.) during the summer. The results achieved by each subject of the research during the 5 gym tests are presented in different tables.
DISCUSSION: The arithmetic average in 2006 was of 30'29", while in 2007 the average was of 28'26". We can notice a difference between the two seasons, which means that the individual training plan has had positive results. The Variation coefficient snows that the 2007 season has a great constant homogeneity. The 2006 season is also homogeneous during the experiment. The progress percentage during 2007, 7,01% shows better results compared to 2006 which had a progress percentage of 2,72%. The difference between the average results of the two seasons is significant. The sportsman G.M. has made a remarkable improvement from the initial test until the final test during the competition season 2007.
CONCLUSION: The difference between the two seasons is significant, the results of the research being worth taking into consideration.
