The purposes of this study was to explore the relationships between scoring factors and game winning rates for final 4 teams in 2005 Men`s World Volleyball Championships. The research methods in this study are based on the theory of Grey Relational Analysis which helps the researcher identify the factors of scoring and rates of winning. From the videos of the top 4 teams, the researcher identified scoring factors which including attack, attack block, serve and opponent`s errors. The statistical methods included One-way ANCOVA, One-way ANOVA and Grey Relational Analysis to test the data from scoring factors and winning rates. Three results were identified as follows: 1. Teams attacked to score between 11.89~13.35 points (50.66-55.88% in score rate); attacked blocked to score between 2.14~3.33 points (9.18~13.49% in score rate) ; served to score between 1.08~1.35 points (4.51~5.49% in score rate); the winning rates for the final teams` were between 49.11~54.10%. 2. The scoring factors for the final teams, including: attack, attack block, serve and opponent`s error did not reveal statistical significance (p<.05). The team attacked to score 11 points in single set for the rates above was 50%, attack blocked to score 2 points in single set was 9 %, served to score 2 points in single set was 4.50% and scored 7 points for opponent`s error in single set was 27%. 3. Attack block was highly correlated with the winning rates in grey relational analysis to reveal the importance for attack block skill. From the results, there are several points that need to be emphasised. First, block scoring is highly correlated with game winning rate. This differs to other statistics on the same topic. More data is needed to confirm this finding. Second, block scoring is a complex technique and has become a passive attack strategy due to the change in scoring rules.
