The attack zone associated with block opposition, as was apparent in previous studies (Mesquita & César, 2007). Specifically, the utilization of the middle and right zones of the net promoted less cohesive block opposition. Also, the attack tempo revealed to interfere decisively with block opposition. Slower tempos associated with a more cohesive block opposition, while quicker tempos induced less cohesive blocks. In fact, the velocity of the attack is a decisive factor in disturbing the opponent`s block in modern volleyball (Katsikadelli, 1995). Both the attack zone and tempo associated with block opposition, thus confirming our initial hypothesis. Further research should focus on whether these two variables affect block opposition, or if there is a mask effect. For instance, if there is strong association between attack zone and tempo, maybe one of the variables is the determining factor relating block opposition, and not both.
