Some preliminary statistical information about the symposium
BMS2006 will have a total of about 192 free presentations and 8 invited lectures.
The figures below show some statistics based on the home institution of the first author, taking only in account the free presentations submitted and accepted. The first one shows the results of all communications taken together, regardless of being podium presentations or posters. It stands out that most of the communications are from institutions in Portugal and Japan, about 37% of the total, followed by a group of institutions from Spain, Norway, France and Brazil, with a share of 32%.
Dividing the communication in Podium presentations and Posters, we get the histograms of the next two figures. It is found that Japan accounts for most of the Podium presentations, followed by Portugal, both of them being responsible for 46% of the total. Regarding the Posters, it is now Portugal that leads followed by Brazil, Norway and Spain, all four together representing 56% of the total of Posters.
Concerning the statistics of the communication per scientific area, the results are shown in the next figure.
If is found that the most popular areas are Swimming Biomechanics, Swimming Evaluation, Advice and Biofeedback and Swimming Physiology & Biochemistry, followed at a small distance by Swimming Training. These four areas represent almost 80% of all communications.
When accounting for the division between Podium presentations and Posters, we have the histograms of the next two figures. It is found most of the Podium communications are from the areas of Swimming Biomechanics, Swimming Physiology & Biochemistry and Swimming Evaluation, Advice and Biofeedback, these tree areas representing 76% of all communications. Regarding the Posters, the most populated areas are Swimming Evaluation, Advice and Biofeedback, followed by Swimming Biomechanics, Swimming Physiology & Biochemistry and Swimming Training, altogether representing also 76% of all Posters.
