Video pictures (23 frames) and the appropriate technical/ biomechanical explanations for Janet Evans' full stroke at 625 m of her gold medal 800 m race at the Barcelona Olympic Games 1992. Janet Evans' stroke is not symmetrical. It contains significant vertical movements which require allocating potential propulsive forces to counter-balance those extended and unproductive aspects of the stroke. In theory, there is much that could be improved in the technical aspects of this swimmer, and yet, this is the style of an Olympic Champion, albeit one who is performing considerably slower than when at her peak four years earlier. It is not known whether the "faults" commented on her were responsible for Janet Evans' slowing since the previous Olympic Games.
