Analysis of the recuperation in swimming: Differentiation between experts and beginners

(Analyse der Rekuperation im Schwimmen: Unterschiede zwischen Spitzenschwimmern und Anfängern)

The objective of this study is to analyze the capacity of active recuperation of the practiced swimmers compared with that of beginners. Our experience is based on a fartleck lest : a set of 4 x 100 ms with 20 seconds of recuperation with the 1st 50 meter swum quickly and the 2nd 50 ms swum slowly (active recuperation). Our study is based on an analysis of the evolution of the heart rate with the help of cardiofrequencemeters. All the population also passed the Ruffier Dickson's lest in order to quantify whether the swimmers had a good recuperation in a non-aquatic environment. Our population is composed of 40 persons of which 20 swimmers were beginners but classified sporty and 20 were practiced swimmers; every group included 10 girls and 10 young men of 20 years old average ± 2. Our results show that the practiced sporty swimmers recovered more easily with active recuperation phases than the sporty non-experts whatever the gender. In addition, although swimmers beginners display physical qualities that allow them to get a very good indication of recuperation (indication of Ruffier-Dickson), we deduced for them that the simple fact to swim mobilize some unaccustomed resources: it corresponds to the fundamental parameters in swimming: the propulsion, the poise, the breathing and the hold of information. So, once these parameters are controlled, it is therefore possible to have an economical swimming.
