Effects of the orientation of the maximum torque point with a Q-Ring™ non-circular chainring system on the BMX cycling sprint performance

(Auswirkungen der Orientierung des maximalen Drehmomentpunkts mit einem Q-Ring™ ovalen Kettenblattsystem auf die Sprintleistung beim BMX-Fahren)

Introduction: The aim of this study was to observe the differences between the Q-Ring non-circular chainring system optimum chainring position (OCP) torque settings on the initial sprint of the BMX race. Synthesis of the facts: The results showed statistically significant differences for Vmean between NQ and OCP-3 and 4 (P ? 0.04). Results that are a percentage improvement between NQ and OCP-3 and 4 of 1.59 and 2.02% respectively, and a greater distance for the same time of 0.35 and 0.44 m, respectively. Conclusions: The main conclusions of this study are that the Q-Ring non-circular pedaling system is able to improve performance, and that this improvement is greater when the torque delivery is positioned in the OCP-3 and 4 points.
