Cycling performance tips or optimizing personal athletic performance

Our inherited abilities (genes) set the ultimate limit for our personal athletic performance. But it is our training and nutritional programs that more commonly make the difference when setting a personal best or winning an event.
It is not unusual to see the advantages of nutritional supplements and training aids based on anecdotal (rather than scientific) evidence with the sponsor benefiting financially from their use.
The goal of this website is to collect and present performance tips (nutritional, training, and equipment) that are supported by scientific evidence (studies) or rooted in the well accepted principles of nutritional physiology. In addition, any personal bias will be clearly noted.
Understanding these principles and the basis of these tips will help the reader to apply them to their own unique situations. Knowledge and understanding will improve cycling performance, as it does for all aspects of life.
