Ruck frequency as a predictor of success in the 2007 Rugby World Cup Tournament.

These data suggest that during International rugby competitions, the greater the number of rucks you create the more likely you are to win the match. This strategy was not effective during the knockout stages of the Rugby World Cup. "Rugby World Cup proved once again that winning a world cup is quite a different proposition from winning a championship. When a tournament has a knock-out stage then the dynamics suddenly change" (IRB 2007b page 1).
