An acquisition system tailorable to the needs of the specific sports applications
Data acquisition systems are nowadays ubiquitous in modern sports. The technological advances in both Internet of Things and wearable devices are significantly transforming the global market of instruments for the assessment of sport performance, bringing deeper measuring capability. In fact, the use of these devices allows sport operators to identify specific parameters that can be very important to fine-tune training methods. Nevertheless, the products available on the marketplace are often either proprietary closed systems or general-purpose data acquisition boards. The formers are generally lightweight and low cost, but cannot be customized for research purposes, while the latter, even if they ensure a high degree of customization, are generally heavy and costly. Moreover, they often require technological skills beyond the scope of a sport team or a sport science faculty. In this paper, we present DAQuino, a modular system that is easily configurable and can be used in several sport applications.
