Analysis and keys for the teaching of Imre Kemecsey's technical model
(Analyse und Schlüssel zur Lehre des Technikmodells von Imre Kemecsey)
The price for reaching the significant results in sports implies the interaction of various factors and dimensions of sports performance. According to Malina and Bouchard (1981), among others, we should mention genetic factors, which among other aspects determine:
a) Characteristics of personality associated with the competitive capacity of the person, or the emotional control
b) Sportsman's anthropometric characteristics
c) Motor skills, such as speed, potency, agility or flexibility;
d) Health and absence of chronic disorders which might make sports practice impossible
Apart from these, and equally important, we can point out "contextual" factors (Malina and Bouchard, 1981), like having developed correctly planned and structured training, having performed it under adequate conditions, having counted with the proper trainers, not having suffered from any type of injury which might have prevented a sportsman perform in the decisive moments, or may have forced him to retire; or, even, on other occasions, the fact of having had the opportunity to show this capacity of performance.
Assuming that some individuals have been more privileged in aspects such as physical attributes or the capacities of adapting themselves to the training, their possibilities of reaching the elevated levels of performance in a specific sport are obviously greater than the ones of those individuals with worse capacities. That is to say, the more favorable the genetic disposition, greater will be the possibilities that the planned training produces results (Lorenzo and Sampaio, 2005). Nevertheless, we consider that these factors, although very important, aren't sufficient. According to Baker, Horton, Robertson-Wil-son and Wall (2003), we can consider that the genes determine the size of the bottle, while the contextual aspects represent the content.
In this chapter, we fundamentally try to focus on one of these last factors, that is, on technical development, the aspect which conditions the possibility of top-level performance in all sports, but fundamentally in canoeing.
