The effect of 14 training sessions on the development of decision-making skills in U-13 soccer players

(Die Auswirkungen von 14 Trainingseinheiten auf die Entwicklung der Entscheidungsfähigkeit von U-13-Fußballern)

Soccer is a social and sporting phenomenon. Consequently, the initiation of soccer has an educational and formative potential as a matter of teaching and training. Therefore, the objective of this study was to verify the influence of 14 sessions of a training programme based on decision-making and tactical skills. Participants were 46 soccer Spanish players with a mean age of 13.18 years (SD = 0.58). Soccer players were divided into two groups: the control group (23 players) and the intervention group (23 players). The intervention group participated in the soccer training programme based on comprehensive teaching. The evaluation instrument used to measure decision-making was TacticUP®. Results showed significant improvements in post-intervention for the quality of decision-making in the intervention group compared to the control group in tactical principle improvement on offensive and defensive skills. It is concluded that the training programme improved the decision-making skills. Therefore, training programmes based on comprehensive teaching applied to youth soccer schools may be used for effective sports education.
