The effectiveness of the FIFA11+ program across the population
(Die Effektivität des FIFA11+ Programms insgesamt)
This article reviews the literature regarding the FIFA11+ program and its effects on injury prevention and athletic performance across a broad population. The FIFA11+ program has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of injuries in soccer players.
The warm-up program "FIFA11+" was designed to reduce the occurrence of injuries associated with playing soccer and includes a collection of exercises to improve the athlete`s strength, balance and agility. The FIFA11+ program has been studied extensively over the last ten years to determine its effectiveness on injury prevention and physical performance measures, across a variety of populations. An online search of the literature produced twenty-one relevant articles involving the FIFA11+ program. The program itself has produced varying levels of effectiveness including a 77% decrease in ACL injuries and 48% reduction in lower limb injuries. The success of the FIFA11+ has resulted in the development of subsequent injury prevention programs such as FIFA11+ Kids and FIFA11+ Shoulder. The FIFA11+ program and its variations should be considered by sporting coaches to implement in their training programs to reduce the risk of injury and improve athletic performance.
