The short program competition constitutes an important part of figure skating contests in that the short program results will determine the outcome of the entire game. In this article, through technical analysis on the world top women skating athletes, it can be seen apparently that they don't have sharply different scores of base value(BV),while there exists striking gap between their final scores, which is mainly caused by the different accomplishment of jump actions. Besides, their BVs in the jump actions are not remarkably different and there is also no obvious gap in the BVs and final scores of spins and steps.Therefore, the accomplishment of jumps acts plays a decisive role in affecting the final achievements of the short program. It is sincerely hoped that such analysis can offer a reference for the training and contests of the athletes and coaches so that a fruitful outcome can be obtained in 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
