Feedback systems
This chapter introduce feedback-systems in the field of technique training in sports. As a starting point a simple and traditional feedback system in ice-speedskating is presented followed by the practical use of modern digital Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) in competitive swimming. In the beginning, the definition, research history, and the role of feedback in technical training are explained and the distinction between Knowledge of Result and Knowledge of Performance is presented. In the section Application common feedback systems in competitive swimming are presented. In addition to the video-based feedback, the possibilities and training effects of IMU-based systems are explained.
