Special strength training manual for coaches

(Spezielles Krafttrainingshandbuch für Trainer)

The Coaches Manual is the most cutting edge and exhaustive work of its kind. The reader can find in it all the fundamental theoretic elements of the SST as well as practical indications for the means and methods and many programs for cyclic, acyclic, sport games and combat sports. In it contains elucidation of rationale of organizing Special Strength Training and its application within the Block Training System which has been widely explained for the first time in a book. All its content comes from experiments and application in field of the authors. Extracted from the Preface of Prof. Verkhoshansky: "All the SST programs illustrated in "SST Manual for Coaches" came out from experiments and have been successfully employed in sports practice by Olympic sport athletes. On the basis of these proven programs (and using the book as a guide) it is believed that a coach can work out his own program for any sports discipline. Some of the programs are really strenuous; they were created for top level athletes. Even though the contents of this manual are mainly addressed to Olympic sports athletes, they are also useful to coaches working with young athletes. The training of young athletes is aimed not only towards the improvement of their performance in current competitions, but also, and above all, to their preparation for highly intensive and specialized training in the future. Be careful and I am sure that success will be yours." (Verlagsinformation) With examples for SST exercises used by former successful Soviet track and field athletes in pole vault (Sergey Bubka), triple jump (Viktor saneyev), hammer throw (Yuriy Sedykh), shot put Natalya Lisowskaya), javelin throw (Janis Lusis) and discus throw (Faina Melnik).
