Profil isocinétique des muscles du genou chez des taekwondoïstes élites olympiques

(Isokinetic profile of knee muscles in olympic elite taekwondo practitioners)

Objective: We aimed to assess the isokinetic profile of the flexor and extensor muscles of the knee within taekwondo practitioners. Population and methods This was a descriptive study. Fourteen elites taekwondo practitioners divided into two Olympic weight categories: one group of the category -68 kg and the other of the category -80 kg. The concentric isokinetic knee muscle strength was assessed using a Biodex® System 3 dynamometer at three angular speeds: 60, 120 and 180°/s. The peak torque, the peak torque reported on the weight, the mean power, the peak torque joint angle, the acceleration time, the peak torque time and the hamstrings to quadriceps ratio, are the isokinetic parameters retained. Results: The peak torque and average power are worse in the taekwondo practitioners of -68 kg, at the non-dominant knee extensor specially. A significant difference at P < 0.05 was observed at ratios between the dominant and non-dominant leg in the group of -80 kg, for all speeds of the test. Conclusion: The concentric isokinetic evaluation revealed a deficit of strength and knee muscle imbalance in a group of taekwondo practitioners. Additional eccentric tests, assessment at fast speeds and mix ratios should be considered.
