Lactate metabolism during exercise, an old story with a new ending, but what to do now?

About the importance of lactate metabolism in sport. as the product of one metabolic pathway (glycolysis), and the substrate for a downstream pathway (mitochondrial respiration), lactate can be regarded as the link between glycolytic and aerobic pathways. Importantly, this linkage can transcend compartment barriers and occur within and between cells, tissues and organs.
