Everyone knows about the Olympic Games … most people know about the Paralympic Games … some know about the Cultural Olympiad … and more and more are learning about the associated scientific Convention or, to give it its full name, the International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS). The first ICSEMIS was held in Guangzhou, China in 2008 just prior to the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. Objectives To celebrate sport sciences across the UK and internationally To exchange sport science, clinical and pedagogic information To promote education about science, education and medicine in sport To encourage multi-disciplinary approaches To network amongst researchers, pedagogues, clinicians and practitioners To present cutting edge research and developments To secure public engagement by young people and ordinary members of our communities
