Common characteristics of successful endurance programs: Factors of success
The reviewed article is not scientific research but rather is a review and assessment of endurance programs. Specifically, the author conducted in-depth assessments (via interviews, observations, and research) of internationally successful endurance athletes/ programs in an attempt to identify characteristics common across programs and athletes. While the sports that were assessed did not include endurance swimming (distance running in Kenya, cross-country skiing in Norway, Finland, and Sweden, and Biathlon in Germany), the findings probably still hold some relevance for the development of endurance swimmers.
