Wplyw treningu wytrzymalosciowego oraz suplementacji weglowodanowej i bialkowej na poziom GSH w erytrocytach i TBARS w osoczu krwi u lekkoatletów

(The influence of endurance training and carbohydrate and protein supplementation on concentrations of reduced glutathione (GSH)in red blood cells and TBARS in blood plasma of athletes)

Introduction. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of endurance training and of supplementation with carbohydrate and protein nutrient on reduced glutathione (GSH) concentrations in hemolysed red cells and on TBARS levels in blood plasma of athletes during a training camp. Material and methods. The research was conducted on supplementation group and control group with placebo. Results and conclusions. The training programme resulted in an improved tolerance of work loads as expressed by a prolonged treadmill running duration (p < 0,05) and decreased TBARS concentration in plasma in both supplemented and placebo groups. No significant, treadmill-induced changes in GSH and TBARS levels were observed despite a marked (p < 0,01) acid-base imbalance and elevated blood lactate (p < 0,01) both before and after the camp. Carbohydrate and protein supplementation had no effect on the variables studied.
