Exercise in the heat

The stresses of athletic competition are often compounded by extreme environmental thermal conditions. Performing in such extreme conditions places a heavy burden upon the bodies thermoregulatory mechanisms. Prolonged exercise of a vigorous nature may overwhelm the bodies ability to regulate its temperature satisfactorily, exposing the athlete to a variety of health risks and dramatically impairing performance.
