The impact of cognitive anxiety and stress on athletic performance: Educational programs and academic research for mental health
(Die Auswirkungen von kognitiver Angst und Stress auf die sportliche Leistung: Bildungsprogramme und wissenschaftliche Forschung zur psychischen Gesundheit )
In order to better understand how anxiety affects athlete psychology in competitive sports, this research will specifically look at the learning and instructional components of anxiety management. Athletes frequently suffer anxiety, which, depending on how it's handled, can either improve or impede performance. The study explores a number of psychological strategies that are crucial for helping athletes gain anxiety management skills, such as mindfulness-based treatments, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and visualization approaches. Examined is the function of coaches and support networks, focusing on how they affect athletes' capacity to become resilient and acquire useful coping skills.
The study also addresses how athletes' training regimens could incorporate anxiety management to promote long-term mental and emotional health. By highlighting case studies and practical applications, this paper underscores the need for educational programs that equip athletes with the skills to manage anxiety, thereby enhancing their performance and overall psychological health. Through a comprehensive understanding of anxiety's effects and management strategies, athletes can learn to transform anxiety from a debilitating factor into a catalyst for peak performance.
Using the author`s personal experience as a nationally elite-level athlete in an extremely mental-strength-based sport (archery), the author hopes to provide unique insights into the practical realities of managing competitive anxiety and offer recommendations based on academic research and first-hand experience.
