In artistic gymnastics, the run-up velocity on vault is a fundamental parameter to perform high-level vaults. A lot of studies showed that there is a significant correlation between run-up velocity and specific vault parameters and judges scoring (Sands and McNeal, 1995; Schärer et al., 2019). By using the vaulting table instead of the vaulting horse from 2001 on, an increase in velocity could be shown after the World Championships (WC) 2007 (Naundorf et al., 2008). The aim of this study was therefore, (1) to analyse the distribution of vault groups run-up velocity of the vaults from the WC 1997 (Lausanne), 2007 (Stuttgart) and 2019 (Stuttgart) and (2) to check whether the velocities increased further using the same apparatus in 2007 and 2019.
