Trait anxiety as a risk factor for musculoskeletal injury in athletes: a critically appraised topic

Higher levels of trait anxiety contributed to increases in injury risk in athletic populations. Trait anxiety was one of several psycho-social factors, such as life event stress and coping skills, which contributed to injury risk. Evidence suggests preparticipation screen-ing of mental health may be beneficial in predicting injury
