Gold medal ready
(Vorbereitet für die Goldmedaille)
Australian Army soldiers from the Special Operations Training and Education Centre (SOTEC) put 100 Australian athletes and coaches training for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games through a series of activities at Holsworthy, Sydney, on Tuesday, 13 November 2018, intended to give them a competitive edge.
The Gold Medal Ready training activity will equip the athletes and coaches with new techniques for dealing with high-pressure situations, such as their final build up and while competing at Tokyo 2020.
Army signed an agreement with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) on 13 August 2018 to work together to share human performance practices and this Gold Medal Ready activity is the first under that agreement.
The Army-AIS partnership`s key focus areas include mental health and wellbeing, performance under pressure, injury and illness prevention, and talent confirmation and induction into high performance.
Army also invited key personnel from Australian Rugby to observe the training activities.
The Special Operations Training and Education Centre (SOTEC) is the `schoolhouse` for Army`s Special Operations Command and is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, education and trade management of all Special Operations Command personnel.
