Teaching program for beginners in alpine skiing competition

(Ausbildungsprogramm für Anfänger im alpinen Skirennlauf)

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study is to present a teaching program for beginners in alpine skiing that makes learners feel enjoyment, and assists learners in mastering the technique and the tactics of the sport. METHOD: The method of developing a teaching theory was as follows: 1. Defined the technical particularity that is of initial interest for the alpine skiing competition, and is the factor to develop the technique. 2. Analyzed the technical elements and the tactical elements in alpine skiing competition were analyzed. 3. Proposed the teaching theory for beginners in alpine skiing competition (in teaching theory, the goal of teaching, teaching content, teaching materials, and teaching methods are described). 4. Developed the teaching program, which described the process of teaching. 5. The experimental lesson is carried out. Subjects are seven advanced skiers who had no previous experience in alpine skiing competition. RESULTS: A teaching program that subjects were able to learn a systematic technique and tactics was made. The execution of an experimental lesson of three days followed. As a result of the three-day lesson, the time of all learners was shortened in the post test compared with the pre lest, and estimated techniques and the tactics were mastered. In a questionnaire survey after the lesson, all learners answered that the lesson was good. From the above-mentioned, the teaching program was evaluated as one that was welcomed and effective for the learner. DISCUSSION: From the Video image analyzed, a lot of learners put their arms downwards. Therefore, it was necessary to constitute "position of a high arm that always came into sight" in the teaching content. Additionally, it was necessary to set other teaching methods because several learners were not able to acquire "crossover from the Position that upper part of the body is suitable for the fall line" and "angulation to the side and weight by the outside leg". These acquired techniques were not mastered, thus the safety line was bad compared with the attack line, Hence, it was necessary to consider the width of the gate. CONCLUSION: From the experimental! lesson, the teaching program was evaluated as one that was both welcomed by and effective for the learner. However, there were a few improvements in the teaching program.
