The impact of age and maturation on physical performance capacities in emerging adolescent surfing athletes: An argument for off-water training
The influence of age and maturation on the physical performance capacities of emerging surfing athletes are homogenous, indicating potential inefficiencies in the current physical development pathway and subsequent processes.
Surfing athletes who possess holistic athletic capabilities, for example, strength, power, balance and flexibility, are better able to respond to the dynamic and variable nature of competition, complete challenging manoeuvres and out paddle opponents to increase scoring opportunities. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of age and maturation on physical performance capacities in adolescent surfing athletes.
