The use of apps in athletic training, part I: applications for sideline management
Applications (apps) are computer programs designed specifically for use with mobile devices and have a variety of functions.
Designed to monitor and track adverse weather events, apps may assist the athletic trainer in surveying the activity area for weather-related risks as described by the BOC`s athletic training Role Delineation Study.
Similarly, apps designed to assist in diagnosing and managing concussions may assist the athletic trainer in utilizing appropriate tests for identifying sport- related concussions as well as documenting the findings, communicating information with relevant individuals, and managing the event in accordance with the National Athletic Trainers` Association position statement on the management of sport concussion and the BOCRole Delineation Study.
